Kitchen storage. Functional solutions

Kitchen storage. Functional solutions.

Already at the planning stage, we can divide the kitchen into zones and thus give it an ergonomic value, ensuring that everything necessary is within reach. What zones are we talking about? There are five: the pantry zone, storage zone, washing zone, preparation zone, and cooking and baking zone.

Pantry zone. Stock, i.e., food, can be generally divided into those with long shelf lives that can be stored at room temperature and those that quickly lose freshness and need to be refrigerated. Important products that take up a lot of space are bottled beverages. Our awareness of pro-ecological behavior is systematically growing. We consciously choose not to buy beverages in plastic bottles, opting instead for those in returnable glass bottles. It's worth considering a space in the kitchen where a crate of drinks could fit. Wine also requires space. It can be stored on special shelves or in dedicated wine coolers. To sum up: the pantry zone should include a refrigerator, freezer, wine cooler (optional), and a pantry, e.g., in the form of a tall, spacious cargo cabinet.

Storage zone. When ordering custom-made furniture, consider the number of household members, the amount of dishes we own, as well as small household appliances, which are the most problematic to store due to their unusual shapes and sometimes large dimensions. Let's also consider how often we shop and whether there is a need to stock up on large quantities of long-term food. All of this will help optimize the organization of kitchen cabinets.

Drawers and cargo systems are allies of a functional kitchen. Thanks to their full extension, we gain insight into all supplies, including those placed at the back. We can quickly assess their condition, and it's harder for us to overlook anything. We don't waste food that has expired and is stuck somewhere deep in the cabinet. Drawers also make it easier for us to remove dishes and supplies.

Washing zone is primarily a sink with a tap and a dishwasher, as well as a waste disposal unit (optional), and a cabinet under the sink, most often with a waste sorter. Additionally, a drawer for cleaning supplies, cloths, and sponges should be included.

Preparation zone. One of the most important aspects of a functional kitchen is an adequate amount of worktop space. A comfortable main worktop should be at least 90 cm wide. This zone also includes space for working cutlery (a drawer), spices, and all small household appliances such as mixers, blenders, and others.

Cooking and baking zone should include a hob, kitchen hood, oven, and other preferred appliances such as a steam oven, microwave, etc. Additionally, we should provide space for baking trays, racks, baking forms, heat-resistant dishes, pots, and pans. Lovers of traditional cookbooks must also plan a storage space for their favorite publications.

If we have a sufficiently large kitchen space, another zone can be added – the dining zone. It should accommodate a table and chairs, dinnerware, and cutlery. This zone can also include a bar for alcoholic beverages and a dresser with space for, for example, table linen.

Halupczok company offers many modern solutions for storing dishes, cutlery, and provisions, headed by the patented system for adjusting the height of drawers. Simply put, on the sides of the tall pantry cabinet, there are specially profiled strips of durable composite, which have grooves every few centimeters. We can move the entire drawer with its runners up and down. This allows us to change its position in the cabinet depending on the size of the products or dishes stored in the drawer. In addition, there is a whole range of solutions for individually designed drawers; for example, you can design the arrangement and size of dividers in cutlery drawers yourself. Drawers with glass sides and fronts also make kitchen storage ergonomic and working in it a pleasure.
