How to furnish a comfortable dining room?

The dining room is a place for family and friends to gather around delicacies on the table. Today, the dining room is often part of the living room or kitchen, and increasingly, these three spaces intertwine.

Which table to choose for the dining room?

The choice of appropriate furniture depends on the size of our dining room. A round table is an ideal solution where space is limited on a daily basis. These tables generally take up less space, and it's easier to tuck chairs under them, especially if you choose a pedestal table. Round tables often have an extendable function, allowing their surface to expand into an oval shape. Another good solution is a rotating part of the tabletop, which allows dishes to be easily moved (rotated) closer to the diners. The advantage of round dining tables is also the atmosphere they create among guests – at a round table, all seats are equal, which facilitates eye contact and fosters a sense of closeness.

If our dining room has a large area, a rectangular or square table that can accommodate at least 6 or 8 people will work perfectly. In a really large dining room, we can even afford one that comfortably seats a dozen or more people.

For comfortable dining, adequate space for each person eating is essential. It's worth remembering that to sit comfortably at the table, we should allocate approximately 75 cm along the edge of the table and a depth of about 45 cm for each person. When choosing a dining table, it's worth paying attention to the extension mechanism. The simpler it is to operate, the more comfortable the furniture will be to use. An extendable table will be perfect if you only occasionally need space at the table for more people.

Which material to choose?

A dining table can be made of various materials. A solid wood table will be extremely durable. Such furniture will certainly serve us for many years. Equally durable and very fashionable today is a table with a stone top. Such a top, with its beautifully etched stone structure, will be a great decoration for our dining room in itself. Glass, which also offers unlimited possibilities today, reigns in many dining rooms. Such tables are available in various shapes and can also have extension functions.

Comfortable chairs

Chairs deserve special attention. We encourage you to try them out and check if they are comfortable and well-profiled. After all, we will spend long hours on chairs, feasting with our loved ones. And here, too, we have a very rich choice – from wooden chairs to those made of plastic, to partially or even fully upholstered ones. And remember, a chair can, but doesn't necessarily have to, come from the same collection as the table. Chairs can be chosen to match the table. However, it is important that they fit and are comfortable.
