Carpenters' Day

March 19th is a day when all carpenters celebrate. This is due to Saint Joseph, the patron saint of carpenters, joiners, and craftsmen.
This year, the Municipal Cultural Center in Dobrodzień, the Crafts Guild, and Dobroteka jointly organized the celebration of this important holiday for our region. Already in January, a competition for a fairy tale about Dobrodzień carpentry was announced. The festive Gala for the competition's resolution took place at Dobroteka on March 19th this year. During the Gala, which was graced by performances of young musicians from Dobrodzień, diplomas and gifts were presented to all 30 fairy tale authors, and prizes and awards were also given:
- the main prize of the competition was awarded to Paulina Suchańska for the fairy tale titled “Dzięcioł” (The Woodpecker)
- an honorable mention was awarded to Ms. Zofia Myślińska for the fairy tale “Meble mistrza Jana” (Master Jan's Furniture), Alicja Jonczyk for the fairy tale “Jak Janek został stolarzem” (How Janek Became a Carpenter), and Daniel Ochmann for the fairy tale “Kosmiczna dostawa mebli” (Cosmic Furniture Delivery).
As part of the Carpenter's Day celebrations, workshops for children and youth were organized on Wednesday, March 18th, at the Municipal Cultural Center. During these workshops, the youth handmade "stick" coat hangers, while the children decorated small chairs – Silesian "ryćki."
