Review of research results for furniture companies from Dobrodzień

On March 27th this year, the first meeting disseminating the results of the project "Cooperation between science and business in the furniture sector in the Opole Voivodeship" was organized in Dobroteka. During the meeting, speakers presented the results of their research conducted for companies from Dobrodzień and discussed proposals for innovative solutions developed with entrepreneurs during 4-month internships.
The first speaker was Dr. Dawid Bączkowicz from the Faculty of Physical Education and Physiotherapy of the Opole University of Technology. He spoke about the importance of ergonomics in the design of upholstered furniture and the cooperation established with the company Meble Kler Piotr Kler.
After a short discussion that arose after the first presentation, Ms. Barbara Wasilewska from the Faculty of Production Engineering and Logistics of the Opole University of Technology presented the results of sensory research conducted among clients of Villa Coloniale. Special research glasses, which in appearance and functionality resembled gadgets used by the most famous secret agent - James Bond - aroused much excitement among the audience.
Thanks to the glasses, the intern investigated, among other things, how customers react to displays in the store and how many times a person picks up an item. The data on customer behavior obtained in this way helped in developing new solutions for the company where the internship took place.
The presentation by Dr. Magdalena Piejko from the Institute of Sociology of the University of Opole concerned the sociological contexts of furnishing. Thanks to cooperation with the company B+R Studio Tomasz Wiktorski, Dr. Piejko realized how important a role sociological research commissioned by furniture companies will play in the future.
The way we furnish our homes and choose furniture today says more about us than one might think. The way we furnish depends on many factors, including the stage of life we are in, individual preferences, or even our approach to ecological issues.
Dr. Piejko's speech was supplemented by a presentation by Dr. Tomasz Wiktorski from B+R Studio. Dr. Wiktorski presented a research report entitled "Poles' expenditure on furniture in light of research on a representative group of adult Polish residents." From the presentation, we could learn, among other things, about the purchasing potential of individual voivodeships, how customers of furniture companies behave depending on their socio-economic group, and what trends researchers predict in the near future.
At the end of the meeting, Marcin Kula from the Opole Centre for Economic Development spoke about planned activities in the new EU financial perspective 2014-2020 and summarized how Opole entrepreneurs used the funds granted under the Regional Operational Programme of the Opole Voivodeship for 2007-2013.
