"Leisure Vision" Competition Gala
On September 17, the annual Gala of the Piotr Kler Foundation took place at the Opole Philharmonic. During the ceremony, the results of the "Vision of Recreation 2016" competition were announced. Its design and implementation phase took place during the Designer's Good Week workshops. The winners of this year's edition of the competition were the duo Kinga Pawlik and Małgorzata Płoskońska, who, in cooperation with Meble Jonczyk company, created the BOX shelving system.
The winners were selected by a jury composed of: architect Romuald Loegler, architect Ewa Kuryłowicz, Ewa Gołębiowska, architect Witold Szymanik, Piotr Kler, Magdalena Kiełkiewicz, Katarzyna Pełka. The main prize of the "Designer's Good Week" went to the duo working with Meble Jonczyk company: Kinga Pawlik and Małgorzata Płoskońska, who presented the BOX shelving system.
BOX - is a set of modular cabinet furniture. The assumption was to create light and compact basic elements that, when connected, would form a functional shelf. The set consists of 4 modules, created by 4 independent cabinets with different functions and purposes. Thanks to a simple connection system, they can be combined in various configurations. The elements connect with each other using round furniture glides, which allow for adjusting the height of the furniture to compensate for unevenness of the floor. When the modules are joined, the legs form a characteristic pattern that enriches the simple form of the object. Each piece of furniture can function as an independent piece of furniture in the interior.
Other projects include the BOB sofa by designers working with KLER company, and the AW.RE and OOO. poufs by the Sit-Sit group.
As the authors of the BOB sofa project, Martyna Mieszko and Martyna Wojciechowska, say, this project arose from the need to create an extremely soft and inviting piece of lounge furniture for comfortable sitting, which would fit into the style of the DO_M collection. The use of darker material on the outside optically slims the sofa. Additionally, on both sides of the armrests there are velcro tapes that allow for mounting small organizers and pockets for storing magazines, the remote control, and other small items. The character of the sofa promotes the creation of cozy relaxation zones, both in modern living rooms and children's rooms.
AW.RE – by Sylwia Siekirka and Wioletta Maria Szymczyk are poufs based on a rigid polystyrene frame. The cube-shaped seats have handles, making them easy to move, and pockets for storing a magazine or remote control. An additional decorative element is a white coffee table made of lacquered sheet metal, on which you can place a laptop or coffee. Characteristic decorative elements are the tabs located on each edge of the cube. OOO. is a set of poufs consisting of three elements filled with granulate. Thanks to them, you can adjust the seat height according to your needs. The string serves a decorative function and simultaneously binds them into a single body. The fabrics used differ in texture, color, and thread weave.
