SCP 2017 Ending

Zakończenie SCP 2017

On June 30th, we officially concluded the Silesian Design June 2017.

During the gala concluding this year's Silesian Design June, design enthusiasts had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by design historian and critic Krystyna Łuczak – Surówka on 20th-century Polish furniture design. They also attended the vernissage of this year's edition of the Sculpture Open-Air Workshop and the award ceremony for material prizes in the Vision of Leisure competition. The conclusion was crowned by DESIGN STOP - a trip for design enthusiasts to the Gdynia Design Days events.

Throughout the entire month of June, approximately 30 initiatives, included in the calendar of the SCD 2017, took place in the three Silesian voivodeships. We traditionally started the Silesian Design June in Dobroteka with events dedicated to young adepts of design arts – children and youth. Many June events took place at universities educating designers; the Academies of Fine Arts in Wrocław and Katowice, the Institute of Art in Opole, the Institute of Art in Cieszyn, and the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice opened their doors. Guests could participate in exhibitions summarizing the academic year at design faculties, in diploma thesis defenses, and in specially prepared events such as the Summer Game Academy in Cieszyn or the Festival of High Temperatures in Wrocław. The Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole specially prepared an event titled "Fountain" for this occasion, in the form of Jerzy Kosałka's installation titled "Pardon Marcel" and a discussion about the artist and the world's most famous fountain. Cieszyn Castle, for the 12th time, announced the results of this year's edition of the Silesian Thing Competition for the best product, service, and applied graphic design implemented in Upper Silesia and Opole Region at a ceremonial Gala. The DOMAR Interior Gallery in Wrocław, for the 9th time, invited design enthusiasts to a presentation of its standard interior design offerings, as well as numerous exhibitions and meetings specially prepared for Design Night.
