Opening of Katarzyna Adamek’s “CEMENT” exhibition at Dobroteka

On December 12th at 12:12 p.m., a unique artistic event took place at Dobroteka – the opening of Katarzyna Adamek’s “CEMENT” exhibition. The gathering brought together art enthusiasts, invited guests, and friends of the artist, marking an important moment in Dobroteka’s cultural calendar.

Katarzyna Adamek is the recipient of the Dobroteka Award, founded as part of the Spring Salon competition organized by the Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole. We are all the more delighted to present her latest exhibition project in our space and to have had a direct meeting with the artist, the atmosphere of which was filled with conversations, reflections, and genuine emotions.

About the “CEMENT” exhibition

The exhibition presented at Dobroteka is a kind of memory map – a personal story about returning to places that shaped the artist's identity and her Opole roots. Katarzyna Adamek describes her works as “reflections” – echoes of the past in the mirror of the present.

For many years, wool has been a key medium in her work, from which she creates abstract circles, squares, planes, and spatial installations. Organic reliefs and expressive, almost sculptural forms pulsate with the energy of the material, inviting the viewer to pause, contemplate, and experience a sensory contact with art.

Of particular significance for Dobroteka is the fact that one of the artist’s works – “W XI (After peritonitis)” – was honored with the Dobroteka Award at the Spring Salon 2025 in Opole. The “CEMENT” exhibition is a natural continuation of this artistic dialogue.

Artist Profile

Katarzyna Adamek graduated from the Opole Art High School (specializing in carving) and then studied:

• sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław,

• art education at the University of Opole,

• Freie Kunst at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig.

During her stay in Leipzig, she co-founded and initiated places promoting Polish culture and art, including Kolekcja Polska, parismoskau, PANIPANAMA, and Sub Nimbus (2005–2013).

Her works have been presented at numerous exhibitions and artistic residencies in South Korea, Armenia, Slovakia, Germany, and Poland. The artist also regularly conducts wool crafting workshops for audiences of various ages. Since 2019, she has been living and creating by the Spree River in Berlin.

Katarzyna Adamek’s “CEMENT” exhibition will be available at Dobroteka until February 13, 2026.
