We cordially invite you!
Studio Tafla is a mosaic workshop founded by Agnieszka Drobiecka Zielonka and Sergiusz Zielonka. The studio is located in Warsaw, and its main concept is to revive the forgotten art form of mosaic, to domesticate it in interiors and make it more accessible. By reviving mosaic, the artists strive to give the created objects innovative attributes, such as mobility. The works take the form of ceramic paintings/posters most often set in steel or wooden frames adapted for hanging. Thus, the mosaics are not permanently attached directly to the wall as they once were. This feature results from the noticeably increased dynamics of people's lifestyles today, including much more frequent moving. Mosaics are portable, they can move with their buyer.
The works combine a fascination with minimalism, geometry, modernism, a fondness for color, and the search for relationships between individual forms. The unique final effect is the result of using a variety of raw materials such as: mass-colored ceramics, smalt, glass, marble, and recycled products. The issue of materials used and the application of mosaic remains an open field for experimentation for the artists.
