Silesian Design June has officially begun!
On June 6, we ceremoniously launched the Silesian Project June.
During the inauguration at Dobroteka, we presented valuable, and certainly too little known yet very attractive, initiatives taking place in June in the broadly understood Silesian region (Lower Silesian, Silesian, Opole voivodeships). Michał Staszczak from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław presented the High Temperatures Festival. This is an international event that presents to a wide audience the possibilities of creating art objects using high temperatures – the organizers will showcase artistic techniques in shaping glass, ceramics, and metal. At numerous presentations and workshops, both children and adults will be able to try their hand at these materials. Kaja Renkas from the Institute of Art at the University of Silesia in Cieszyn presented another international event – the Summer Game Academy, which consists of workshops and a competition for developing a computer game. In multi-person teams, graphic designers, IT specialists, and musicians work together, creating the artistic foundations for fun and education using computer games. During the inauguration, Katarzyna Rosłon from the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice announced the third edition of the "Sweet Focia with Good Design" competition. The task in this competition, as in previous years, is to photograph oneself with good design examples in architecture found in Silesia.
June is also the time when the "Vision of Leisure" competition, announced by the Piotr Kler Foundation and organized by Dobroteka, was concluded. During the inauguration, the results of the first stage of the competition – for a furniture design
and interior arrangement – were announced, and awards were presented to the winners. Dobroteka's previous activities in fostering cooperation between designers and manufacturers resulted in the creation of a new furniture collection, DO_M, which was presented by designer Katarzyna Pełka. An undeniable attraction during the inauguration was the video mapping presentation in the Apartment of the Future. This is a new proposal for enlivening furniture fronts, prepared by students from the Institute of Art at the University of Opole, under the guidance of lecturers: Bartosz Posacki, Michał Misiura, and Paulina Ptaszyńska. To conclude the inauguration, all participants received an oak seedling, sponsored by the Barlinek company.
