Opole ETNOdesign already in Dobroteka

On January 15 this year, the opening of the "Opole ETNOdesign" exhibition took place at Dobroteka's Art Exhibition Gallery.

The exhibition is the result of a project carried out by the associations Kraina św. Anny and Brzeska Wieś Historyczna, and Zamek Cieszyn. This initiative aimed to develop innovative projects that enrich the offer and strengthen the brand of the Opole region. Students from the Academies of Fine Arts in Katowice and Krakow, as well as designers associated with the Opole region, participated in the project. The participants worked under the supervision of Dr. Justyna Kucharczyk from the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Prof. Maria Dziedzic and Anna Szwaja from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and Anna Zabdyrska from the Pedagogical University of Krakow.

The project began with an ethnographic reconnaissance of the Opole region, analysis of literature, and resources of local museums. The most important role in the process was played by the direct contact of designers with the achievements of the region and the people important to it. Workshop practice of skills and techniques inspired designers to undertake their own design work. Immersed in the region, aware of its cultural values, young designers created products, graphic solutions, and services that present Opole folk art in an innovative way.

The exhibition presented 17 diverse projects, products directly referring to traditional technologies and uses, product designs building experiences and positive associations of the recipient with the region, and services aimed at tourists and residents. Graphic interpretations of regional motifs were also taken care of, proposing logotypes for the "Opole" brand, or patterns that can be used to decorate spaces.

The exhibition can be viewed at Dobroteka until February 24 this year.
