REFLECTIONS - exhibition opening reception

The REFLECTIONS exhibition presents mirrors from selected collections by P55 MIRRORS, including the ROCK collection, awarded in the MUST HAVE 2023 plebiscite, and the COLOR collection, full of energetic colours. The exhibition also features the SQUIGGLE mirror, recognised in the DOBRY DESIGN 2023 competition, this time in a new BLUE version.

P55 MIRRORS - is an original mirror workshop run by Beata Ludwin and Łukasz Wołek in Toruń. Their joint work is a sum of diverse experiences in the field of visual arts. Both studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Beata - conservation of works of art, Łukasz - sculpture in Professor Maciej Szańkowski's studio.

P55 MIRRORS mirrors are handcrafted using traditional gilding techniques, such as silvering and gold leaf gilding. The individual development of each mirror makes them unique and one-of-a-kind. Interpretations of ancient decorative techniques allow for the discovery of new possibilities and the creation of mirrors that combine tradition with modernity.

DESIGNERS ABOUT THEMSELVES:

We focus on mirrors due to the richness of interesting aspects from visual, functional, as well as semantic and historical areas. Contexts resulting from the creative process, such as mindfulness, time, or controlled chance, also play an important role. We follow the material.Self-reflection is very important to us - accentuating the need to experience it, and the mirror seems to be the best "tool". We also strive to broaden the definition and deepen the relationship between the object and its user. We try to shift the perception of mirrors as objects with only utilitarian features.
