On October 26th at 1:00 PM, Dobroteka will host the opening of the exhibition "Non-Repetition. Włodzimierz Cygan - Woven Objects" and a meeting with the artist.

In 1980, Włodzimierz Cygan graduated from the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Faculty of Industrial Design. After his studies, he began an individual creative career with a particular focus on artistic textiles. He is a member of the European Textile Network.

He headed the Artistic Textile Studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk and also worked at the Institute of Textile Architecture at the Lodz University of Technology. In 2008, he took up the position of head of the Unique Textile Studio at the Faculty of Textile and Apparel of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. In 2002, he received the academic title of Professor of Fine Arts from the President of the Republic of Poland.

He has participated in nearly 190 group exhibitions and is the author of 34 individual exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His textiles can be found in the collections of, among others: the Central Museum of Textiles in Łódź, the Capital Bureau of Artistic Exhibitions, Textilmuseum Neumünster (Germany), Ny Carlsberg Fondet Copenhagen (Denmark), Musée de Jean Lurçat et de la Tapisserie Contemporaine à Angers (France), Friends of Fibre Art Collection (USA), Fiber Art Synergie Collection (France).

In his artistic activities, he mainly focuses on exploring new possibilities of artistic expression in unique textiles, enabling the achievement of an additional effect - luminescence. He is a laureate of numerous awards in national and international competitions, the author of several publications, and has served on many juries.
