Closing event of the "Silesian Thing 2019" exhibition

Finisaż wystawy "Śląska Rzecz 2019"

Organized by Zamek Cieszyn, Śląska Rzecz is the only design competition that promotes local identity in line with the "think globally, act locally" philosophy. Fifteen editions of the Competition have shown that design allows for quick adaptation to changes, and the products participating in the Competition are distinguished by good ideas, quality, and the effectiveness of their implementation. This unique Competition recognizes out-of-the-box thinking and a willingness to seek solutions that improve the quality of everyday life. The awarded and distinguished projects are excellent evidence of awareness and pride in local resources, and also confirm the highest quality and a certificate of care for people – viewers, users, residents.

The competition jury consists of: Professor Czesława Frejlich (lecturer at ASP Kraków), Ewa Gołębiewska (until March 2021, director of Zamek Cieszyn), Magdalena Dobruk (Association of Applied Graphic Designers, Podpunkt studio, Superskrypt agency), Dr. Daniel Zieliński (ASP Warsaw, president of the Association of Industrial Form Designers), Marcin Piotrowski (Head of the Service and Experience Design Department at Play), Dr. hab. Marcel Bencik (Vice-Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava), Barbara Szafir (Department of Regional Development, Marshal's Office of the Silesian Voivodeship), Rafał Kost (iDEAL Consulting Katowice).

According to Ewa Gołębiowska, long-time director of Zamek Cieszyn, "The 15th edition of the Śląska Rzecz Competition coincided with the unique time of the pandemic, which brought a revision of what we had previously considered certain and unchangeable." However, she assures that the Competition jury invariably expected innovative solutions, and the project itself should also take into account the challenges of sustainable development and perceive the needs of users.

Therefore, the jury's choice to award the hospital furniture system for newborns by Formed was not surprising. In the "applied graphics" category, the visual information system for The Software House in Gliwice won. In the "exhibition design" category, the project located on the Polish-Czech border - Open Air Museum Cieszyn. Český Těšín.

Many projects participating in the 15th edition of the Śląska Rzecz Competition can be seen at the exhibition, which will be hosted at the Exhibition Gallery in Dobroteka until May 12.

On this day (May 12 this year), at 12:00, we cordially invite you to Dobroteka for the finissage of this unique exhibition.
