Good Design Week 2019
The 8th edition of the Dobry Tydzień Projektanta (Good Designer's Week) design workshops will begin on Thursday, August 5th.
For the eighth time, Dobroteka has been the executive organizer of the 12th edition of the Wizja Wypoczynku (Vision of Leisure) competition, organized by the Piotr Kler Foundation. The competition is aimed at interior and furniture designers, and participants can be both graduates of design schools and students who want to take on the design assumptions set by the competition organizer. Most often, the participants of the competition are young people at the beginning of their professional journey as furniture and interior designers.
This year, the competition, held under the slogan "HOME", is a competition for the best design of a piece of furniture or a set of furniture for the living room and a computer visualization of interior arrangement using these furniture pieces, allowing the user to individually shape the living room space. The prize in the first stage of the competition, in addition to material prizes, is the participation of the winners in week-long design workshops. Furniture factories from Dobrodzień get involved as workshop participants, offering their technologies and knowledge in the implementation of new furniture concepts. This year, we invited Kler S.A., Sit Sit, Meble Jonczyk, and the Novelle brand to participate in the workshops. During the week of cooperation between manufacturers and designers, new furniture ideas will emerge, and furniture prototypes will be realized. The works created in the second stage of the competition will be judged by a Jury consisting of: Piotr Kler (Piotr Kler Foundation), architect Romuald Loegler (Atelier Loegler Architekci sp. z o.o.), architect Ewa Kuryłowicz (Kuryłowicz&Associates), architect Witold Szymanik (WSC), Ewa Gołębiewska (Zamek Cieszyn), Magdalena Kiełkiewicz (Colorofon), Katarzyna Pełka - Bura (Wzorro Design).
On September 5th, the first day of the Dobry Tydzień Projektanta workshops, representatives of manufacturers will present their realization capabilities using examples of furniture offered at Dobroteka. Through a draw, designers will be assigned factories to cooperate with. The next day, designers will visit the drawn production plants, familiarizing themselves with technological capabilities and production specifics. Based on this, they will try to adapt new design concepts to the manufacturer's capabilities. The stage of developing new design concepts begins on this day. Only Sunday will be a moment of respite in the busy week spent in Dobrodzień. We plan a kayak trip on Mała Panew then, which will allow the visiting designers to get to know the tourist attractions of our region.
On Monday, September 9th, the Designer's Forum will take place, during which workshop participants will present their designs and make self-presentations. On this day, projects for realization will also be selected. From September 10th to 12th, designers, in cooperation with furniture manufacturers and at their factories, will work on furniture prototypes. On Friday, September 13th, we will officially conclude the workshops with a working exhibition of designs and furniture prototypes.
The post-workshop exhibition will be available at Dobroteka until mid-November this year. On November 21st, an exhibition opening combined with the award ceremony for the winners of the second stage of Wizja Wypoczynku is planned at the Tetmajera 83 gallery in Krakow.
