Good Designer Week 2017
On August 31st, we are launching the 6th edition of the "Dobry Tydzień Projektanta" (Good Designer's Week) workshops. This year, 6 winners of the 10th edition of the "Wizja Wypoczynku" (Vision of Leisure) competition will participate in the workshops. The designers will collaborate with furniture manufacturers in the region, namely Kler, Meble Jonczyk, and Sit Sit. The organizers' goal is to implement designs to complement the DO-M brand's furniture collection.
On the first day of the workshops, design teams will be formed by lottery, and tasks will be assigned for development. The designers will familiarize themselves with the production capabilities of the participating manufacturers, based on already completed products, but also by personally visiting the production plants and consulting with technologists. The conceptual stage will last 3 days and will conclude with a presentation of the designs on September 4th at 2:00 PM at Dobroteka. On this day, projects for implementation will be selected.
The next stage is the prototyping stage, where designers supervise the creation of models in the production plants. This stage is a great benefit for designers who have not yet had the opportunity to collaborate with production plants. Thanks to this, they gain technological knowledge and experience in working with prototyping teams. Together, they solve problems that could not have been foreseen at the design stage, refining implementation details and technical solution specifics.
The results of the workshops will be presented at a working post-workshop exhibition on September 8th at 12:00 PM at Dobroteka. The design works and furniture models will be evaluated by the jury of the "Wizja Wypoczynku" competition, consisting of architects and designers: arch. Ewa Kuryłowicz, arch. Romuald Loegler, arch. Witold Szymanik, Ewa Gołębiowska, Piotr Kler, Magdalena Kiełkiewicz, Katarzyna Pełka – Bury. The best design will be awarded a cash prize of PLN 9,900 for the team. However, perhaps the most valuable distinction for designers is the implementation of their ideas into the collection and market acceptance. This can also result in rewards in the form of royalties from product sales. We promote this event, in the form of an exhibition, every year at Arena Design in Poznań and during Design Night at Galeria Wnętrz DOMAR in Wrocław.
