"What Our Souls Play" – a unique exhibition at the Dobroteka Art Exhibition Gallery

Dobroteka in Dobrodzień once again becomes a place where contemporary art meets the public, opening space for creative interpretations and inspiring conversations.
From August 19 to September 30, 2025, the Dobroteka Art Exhibition Gallery will host an extraordinary exhibition – MiniTextileArt "What Our Souls Play".

This exhibition of artistic fabric is an invitation to reflect on what is intangible, fleeting, and deeply human. The artists participating in the project express a part of their inner world in their works, inviting the viewer to pause for a moment and look deep within themselves.

Fiber art in miniature form

The MiniTextileArt group was founded on the initiative of artists Bożena Kuzio-Bilska and Joanna Lohn-Zając, associated with the Fabric Section of the Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Artists. The group's goal is to promote contemporary artistic fabric in a unique, miniature format of 20 × 20 cm.
The first exhibition took place in 2020 at the Artist's House in Warsaw, and since then, the project has visited numerous galleries and museums throughout Poland.

Theme: the soul as an inner space

This year's leading theme – "What Our Souls Play" – is an artistic attempt to capture what constitutes the essence of humanity: spirituality, identity, and contact with one's "self."
The soul, though invisible, leaves its mark on emotions, choices, and the way we perceive the world.
As the exhibition curator, Bożena Kuzio-Bilska, emphasizes, each invited artist prepared one to three miniatures that are a personal answer to this question.

Some artists, quoting Katarzyna Jasiołek, "separate themselves from the surrounding world with fabric, seeking inner peace in the face of information overload and external chaos." Others, in turn, observe the world carefully – both its material and spiritual aspects – and share discovered truths through the language of artistic fabric.

Richness of materials and techniques

The miniatures presented in Dobroteka impress with their diversity of forms and materials. Artists use both traditional raw materials – wool, linen, silk – and less obvious materials: paper, leather, synthetic fibers, plant elements, or plastic masses.
Works are woven, braided, sewn, glued, as well as flat and three-dimensional compositions.
The small format becomes an asset here – it allows creators to freely experiment and combine various artistic techniques, and gives the viewer the opportunity for close contact with the work.

Dialogue with the viewer

Each miniature is a separate story, and at the same time an element of a larger, common narrative.
The viewer can interpret the works in a completely individual way – linger over one of them, admire a detail, find their memories or emotions in it.
It is a dialogue between the artist and the viewer, in which there is no single correct answer – there is space for one's own feelings and reflections.
