We were at Arena Design in Poznań

At the Arena DESIGN 2015 fair in Poznań, Dobroteka will present an exhibition of furniture created during the "Good Designer's Week 2014" workshops, as well as utility objects resulting from the "The Noblest Form of Wood Processing" Sculpture Open-Air Event.
Arena DESIGN in Poznań is a great opportunity to present the latest achievements in the field of design. At this year's exhibition, Dobroteka will present the results of two activities carried out in 2014, illustrating different ways of shaping the human environment – furniture workshops and a sculpture open-air event.
The third edition of the Good Designer's Week 2014 workshops involved 10 young designers – students and graduates of Polish design universities from Katowice, Krakow, Poznań, Wrocław, and Lublin. Five duos of designers collaborated
with furniture companies from Dobrodzień: Halupczok Kuchnie i Wnętrza, Meblonowak, Meble Jonczyk, Kler, and Sit Sit. Design proposals were consulted with technologists and craftsmen already at the concept stage, which allowed for the elimination of technologically difficult solutions and jointly finding the strong points of the designs. The only limits were time and budget – companies could allocate up to PLN 2000 for prototypes, and the project had to be completed within just 7 days. Each team tackled a different design theme, as a result of which
at the final working exhibition, we could see everything from kitchen furniture, through tables, TV cabinets, dining furniture, soft poufs, to comfortable upholstered furniture. Designers had the opportunity to learn about classic craftsmanship as well as modern furniture production technologies from companies in Dobrodzień. For manufacturers, it was an opportunity to get acquainted with innovative designer thinking.
On the other hand, at the "The Noblest Form of Wood Processing" Sculpture Open-Air Event, nine professional sculptors and students of sculpture departments of art universities created 16 unique utility objects over two weeks. The subject of the artists' work was a form or a set of forms made of solid wood for furniture use in the human environment. During the open-air event, the sculptors created unique, therefore unrepeatable and extremely valuable items: tables, chairs, desks, deckchairs, and benches. In addition to Arena Design, the works from the open-air event, which form the basis of the first exhibition of utility sculpture in Poland, will also be on display at the BOIS&HABITAT fair in Belgium in March this year.
The Dobroteka exhibition at Arena Design will be available from February 17 – 20, 2015, in pavilion 5, stand 25.
At the concurrently running Meble Polska 2015 fair, among leading Polish furniture manufacturers, the VERO brand (stand 25 in pavilion 3A) and the Halupczok Kuchnie i Wnętrza company (stand 7 in pavilion 3) will present their latest products.
